As 2013 nears its end, $34.2 billion has been raised for unlisted infrastructure funds – a five year high that signals a healthy fundraising environment and the popularity of the asset class among investors. The below chart shows the difference between what was raised by infrastructure funds in different regions versus their collective targets.
The average 7.5 percent surplus is driven mainly by the success of global funds: no one single region has enjoyed the same kind of fundraising success.Â

Some of the prominent global funds that have exceeded its fundraising targets this year include Brookfield Infrastructure Fund II, Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund 4, EQT Infrastructure Fund II, IFC Global Infrastructure Fund and the DIF infrastructure III.
