Glennmont breezes into France once more

The UK fund manager has added to its growing portfolio of French wind assets with the purchase of an 18MW wind farm in the north-east.

Glennmont Partners, the London-based fund manager which focuses on clean energy, has acquired an 18-megawatt (MW) operating wind farm in the north-east of France for an undisclosed sum.

The wind farm was developed and built by German developer Enertrag, which will continue to look after its technical and commercial operations.

The deal follows Glennmont’s acquisition of three wind farms in France in February this year, which brought its portfolio of French wind assets to ten with a generating capacity of more than 100MW.

In all, the fund manager’s onshore wind portfolio across France, Ireland, the UK and Italy now accounts for over 210MW.

Glennmont also targets the likes of biomass power stations, solar parks and small-scale hydro power plants. In January this year, it acquired the 40MW Margam Green Energy Project – a biomass power station in Wales – in a £160 million (€214 million; $240 million) deal.

Glennmont, a spinout from BNP Paribas, closed its second fund on €500 million in September last year, beating a target of €450 million.
