GPIF hires Pantheon as its infrastructure manager

The Japanese pension plan has appointed a new manager to pursue global infrastructure investment opportunities.

Government Pension Investment Fund, Japan (GPIF) has appointed Pantheon as its new fund-of-funds investment manager to implement its global core infrastructure strategy.

The appointment is the result of the RFP for alternative investments managers issued in April 2017 with a mandate to invest in core infrastructure assets worldwide.

Meanwhile, GPIF has also hired Nomura Asset Management as its gatekeeper to carry out pre-investment due diligence and post-investment collaborations for infrastructure deals.
