AlpInvest Partners, the private equity fund of funds arm of The Carlyle Group’s Solutions platform, has hired Justine Gordon as managing director to focus on secondary and co-investment opportunities in energy and infrastructure.

Gordon – who will be based in New York – has 20 years’ experience of real assets, private equity and investment banking. She was previously managing director and head of acquisitions for Guggenheim Infrastructure, where she led the private infrastructure investing business, which had an initial focus on energy and power.

Gordon had joined Guggenheim from RREEF Infrastructure, the infrastructure investment arm of Deutsche Asset Management, where she was director and co-head of acquisitions. She also had a spell as a principal at private investment firm Chartwell Investments.

Jacques Chappuis, chairman of AlpInvest and head of Carlyle Solutions, said in a statement that Gordon’s “extensive experience and knowledge in the energy and infrastructure sectors will help us identify new opportunities and develop creative investment solutions for our investors”.

AlpInvest is a heavyweight in the private equity asset class, with approximately $51.6 billion of assets under management on June 30 2014.
