Transurban names new gov’t relations director

Christian Deschauer will manage the toll road operator’s North American government relations programme.

Toll road investor, developer and operator Transurban Group has named Christian Deschauer as its new government relations director in North America, the company said in a statement.

Reporting to marketing director Pierce Coffee, Deschauer will serve as the company’s primary contact with local, state, and federal government-level officials. He will also be the company’s representative in engaging with key stakeholders, community, and business leaders.

“We are excited to welcome Christian to Transurban and believe his skills and experience will help further transportation improvements in Virginia,” said Jennifer Aument, the company’s group general manager for North America and Deschauer’s predecessor.

With more than eight years of experience in government relations, legislative issues and community outreach, Deschauer joins Transurban from the Fairfax County Chamber of Commerce where he served as vice president of government relations.

Transurban, globally headquartered in Australia, is chief investor and concessionaire of the 495 Express Lanes and Interstate 95 projects. It began operating in the US in 2006 as investor and concessionaire to State Route 895, which it is preparing to relinquish to its creditors. Its US headquarters are in Alexandria, Virginia.
