BII confirms $76m commitment

The British investment firm has backed AIIM's fourth private equity fund.

British International Investment has committed $76 million to African Infrastructure Investment Fund 4 (AIIF 4), according to a recent press release from the firm.

Fund 4, managed by African Infrastructure Investment Managers (AIIM), will invest into the industrial, clean tech and renewable opportunities across sub-Saharan Africa. The fund has raised $116 million to date and is targeting $500 million. The vehicle’s predecessor closed in May 2019 at $320 million.

Since inception in 1999, AIIM has successfully raised seven infrastructure vehicles across sub-Saharan Africa.
