Capital raised in the third quarter of 2014 outperforms the amount raised in the same period in 2013, revealing a threefold increase. 17 unlisted infrastructure funds held final closes, raising a total of $21.4 billion in Q3 2014, while 11 funds were closed, totaled $6.2 billion in Q3 2013. This brought the aggregated capital raised so far in 2014 to $43.4 billion.
The largest fund closed in the period was Global Strategic Investment Alliance (GSIA), which closed at $12.6 billion and constituted more than half of the total capital raised in Q3. Several closed funds were oversubscribed, including Macquarie Infrastructure Partners III which closed on $3 billion exceeding its $2.5 billion target, and McMorgan Infrastructure Fund I which closed on $1.33 billion suppressing its $1.25 billion target.
