Deustche Bank has hired a new head of energy mergers and acquisitions for the Americas.
The firm has taped Greg Sommer, Citi’s former head of energy mergers and acquisitions, to serve in a similar capacity at Deutsche. He will be based in New York and will report to Bruce Evans, Deutsche’s head of mergers and acquisitions for the Americas, the firm said in a statement.
Sommer’s hire marks Deutsche’s second energy-focused investment banking hire in two weeks. Last week, the firm said it had hired Dean Keller, a former energy executive, as a managing director focused on the power and utilities sector. He will serve within the bank’s natural resources group, beginning in August.
Deutsche has also lost some investment bankers recently. Natural resources group head Michael Hill left recently for Nomura, and energy investment bankers Jonathan Cox and Michael Johnson left for Morgan Stanley, Reuters reported.
