Ernst & Young exec to head IFM marketing

Industry Funds Management has hired onetime Ernst & Young executive Wade Smith to head marketing. Smith is replacing Umberto Mecchi.

Industry Funds Management (IFM) has hired a former Ernst & Young (E&Y) executive as global head of marketing, the Melbourne, Australia, company said.

Wade Smith joined IFM to replace Umberto Mecchi. Mecchi left IFM to return to HOSTPLUS, where he had previously worked as a marketing executive.

HOSTPLUS is a superannuation fund for the hotel and tourism industry in Australia.

A financial services professional who has also worked for Citibank and insurer MetLife, Smith handled Asia-Pacific region marketing for E&Y from June 2008 until March.

Smith will work with each IFM business line, according to chief executive Bret Himbury. A $35 billion asset manager, IFM has $10 billion invested in infrastructure.

Smith will begin working for IFM on Monday, September 17, the company said.
