Ex-LaHood acolyte Kienitz joins consultant

Parsons Brinckerhoff has brought him on board as a special adviser. He will leverage his experience in transportation project management.

A former US Department of Transportation (USDOT) official has joined Parsons Brinckerhoff, according to a press release.

Roy Kienitz, former undersecretary of policy for USDOT, will work as a senior adviser for the firm, a global infrastructure strategic consultant.

Parsons Brinckerhoff said Kienitz will work on major project development and implementation, “drawing on his diverse policy experience” the firm stated.

Kienitz worked below Ray LaHood, secretary of USDOT, assisting him in formulating surface transportation policy.

He also served as deputy chief of staff for one-time Pennsylvania governor Ed Rendell, heading alternative energy and transportation. He has also acted as secretary at the Maryland Department of Planning, promoting mixed-use transit, and worked as chief of staff for senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan.

Parsons Brinckerhoff was founded by engineer William Barclay Parsons in 1885.
