Frankfurt airport operator Fraport says the consortium it is leading has become preferred bidder to take over the concession for Pulkovo Airport in St. Petersburg, Russia’s fourth largest airport hub.
The firm said Fraport was “well positioned” to assume responsibility for operating Pulkovo in 2010 having seen its Northern Capital Gateway consortium assume pole position in the tender.
Fraport, which owns 35.5 percent of the bidding vehicle, added it had edged out two other competing consortia.
“We are optimistic to be awarded the contract following the final negotiations,” said Fraport executive board chairman, Wilhelm Bender.
