Infra veteran tapped for Bilfinger PPP unit

Andrew Lin (pictured), who has worked for Infrastructure Ontario and OMERS unit Borealis, has joined Bilfinger Berger Project investments. He will handle project finance in North America.

The public-private partnership (PPP) arm of construction and engineering concern Bilfinger Berger has found a capable replacement for erstwhile project finance head Duncan Ball, hiring Thursday infrastructure investment professional Andrew Lin.

Lin has worked in the public sector, having been a multipurpose executive with Infrastructure Ontario and also has limited partner experience from his stint with Borealis Infrastructure. Borealis is a department of $55 billion pension fund Ontario Municipal Employees Retirement System, specialising in infrastructure investment.

At Bilfinger Berger, Lin, who has also worked for Scotiabank and financial service provider Sun Life Financial, was named senior vice president of project finance for Bilfinger Berger Project Investment (BBPI)

Lin will be responsible for North America and report to Damien Joy, president and chief executive of North America for BBGI.

Canada native Lin has a background in information technology (IT) as well as risk management, in addition to portfolio management and financing.

Ball moved from BBGI to become co-chief executive of Bilfinger Berger Global Infrastructure, a developer fund launched in December.
