Nahla Azmy is a veteran investor relations official who has worked for NRG Energy and Lehman Brothers. She is joining an energy focused investment firm with $7bn in capital.

Energy Capital Partners (ECP) has lured a seasoned investor relations professional with an impressive resume in the energy sector.

Nahla Azmy has been named managing director of investor relations for ECP, a private equity firm focused on investing in energy infrastructure throughout North America. Her official starting date could not be ascertained.

Her hiring was announced by NRG Energy, a publicly traded energy and power generation company.

In 2004, Azmy was named director of investor relations for NRG. New Jersey-based NRG said Azmy will be replaced by Chad Plotkin, a business development professional who began working for the company in 2007.

Prior to NRG, Azmy garnered considerable sell-side experience with Lehman Brothers. From 1994 to 2004, Azmy worked in equity research, covering energy utilities. She graduated from New York University Stern School of Business.

Infrastructure Investor tried to contact Paul Parshley, who is listed as managing director of investor relations on ECP’s website. But Parshley was travelling and unable to respond to a request for comment by press time. As such, it could not be determined if he is remaining with ECP.

ECP is based in New Jersey and has $7 billion under management. In September, the private equity firm acquired Liberty Electric, the owner of a natural gas power plant in Pennsylvania.
