AMP Capital, the Australia-based fund manager, has added David Kenny to its investment team.
Kenny will join the firm on October 12, reporting to Michael Cummings, AMP Capital's head of Australian and New Zealand Infrastructure Equity Funds. He has more than 15 years’ experience across banking and infrastructure investment, with a specialist focus on the airport sector, according to a statement released by the firm.
He joins AMP Capital from Toronto-based Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan where he was general manager of business development based in Santiago, Chile. He was responsible for infrastructure investment origination and execution in Latin America with a focus on airports, according to his LinkedIn profile.
In his six years with Sydney-based airport management company Map Airports, Kenny’s work involved the acquisition and divestment of significant interests in privatised airports, capital management for funds including equity, hybrid and bridge debt, and strategic business and fund investment planning.
Kenny also has held senior roles with Sydney-based infrastructure manager Downer Group, Australian airline Qantas Group and Macquarie Group.
Cummings said: “The airport sector is a key pillar of our global infrastructure business, and it is of strategic importance as we continue to target long-term value creation for our clients.
“We have recently added Port Hedland International Airport to our portfolio of global airport assets and David’s appointment ensures we have on-the-ground expertise as we assume management of the asset.”
