CapDyn chief steps into chairman role

Thomas Kubr, founding CEO of the Swiss fund of funds, is moving into an executive chairman position to focus on client development and strategy; CFO Stefan Ammann will become CEO.

Capital Dynamics, the Switzerland-based fund of funds, is making some major shifts in management as part of what the firm described as a long-standing plan to strengthen its leadership structure.

Thomas Kubr, founding chief executive officer of Capital Dynamics, will move into an executive chairman role, and Stefan Ammann will become chief executive officer, the firm said in a statement Tuesday.

Ammann will take over the daily operations of the firm, while Kubr will focus on client development and overall strategy, Capital Dynamics said.

“[Ammann has] been a co-architect of [the firm’s] strategy and is intimately familiar with its operational and financial aspects; therefore, he is best-suited to ensure the business continues to run smoothly and efficiently,” Kubr said in the statement.

Ammann has been the firm’s chief operating and chief financial officer since 2002. Prior to Capital Dynamics, he was CFO for Cosmite Engineering in Switzerland. Prior, he was with the Swiss office of Trafigura, an international trading company.

Kubr founded Capital Dynamics, which has more than 160 professionals and 10 offices around the world, in 1999.
Recently the firm hired Marcelo Moraes, a managing director and partner at Stratus Group, a Brazilian mid-market firm, to head up its activities in Brazil from a new office in São Paulo.
