Friends Ivory in childcare investment

Kidsunlimited, the UK’s third largest daycare provider for children, has raised new funding from Friends Ivory & Sime Private Equity and National Westminster Bank in a £12m transaction.

The company is planning to double in size from 32 to 64 nurseries over the next five years. Kidsunlimited operates purpose built nurseries on business parkes or commuter routes, as well as workplace nurseries within employer’s premises.

Corporate VCs gather around Digital Envoy

Siemens Venture Capital and TextAOL Time Warner Ventures are among the investors backing a Series A funding round for Digital Envoy, the internet infrastructure provider. The two corporate venture units have invested alondside H&Q Asia Pacific. Terms of the investments have not been disclosed.

Digital Envoy has a mapping technology called NetAcuity that allows companies to provide their users with localised content and advertising. The firm’s customers include Cable & Wireless, iBeam Broadcasting and America Online Inc.

Digital Envoy has offices in Atlanta and San Francisco. Other investors in the company include Frontier Capital, Cordova Ventures amd CrossBow Ventures.

Interactive Silicon raises $12.9m

Interactive Silicon, Inc. (ISI) a technology company focused on delivering increased system and network performance, today announced it has secured $12.9m in venture capital funding. ISI will use this latest investment to expand product development and support launch activities targeted for later this year. With this latest round, ISI has received venture funding to date totaling $19.4m.

Castletop Capital, a venture firm co-founded by Mort Topfer, former Dell vice chairman, and TVM Techno Venture Management, the German-U.S. venture capital firm, led this round of funding. Other investors include Austin Ventures, Band of Angels Fund, Convergent Investors, Dell, Dieckell Vermogensverwaltungs, Siemens Venture Capital and Technology Associates Management Company.
