Iberdrola denies UK renewables cuts

The wind energy investor has denied reports that will cut its UK investment by 40%

Iberdrola Renewables has refuted reports that it is dramatically cutting its investment in wind power in the UK.

Yesterday The Times claimed the firm had decided to cut its investment in Britain by £300 million – amounting to 40 percent of its total investment – or “enough to build a wind farm powering 200,000 homes”.

A spokeswoman said Iberdrola was “absolutely committed to the UK” and refuted the report.

“Iberdrola is currently building the largest onshore wind farm in Europe at Whitelee, Renfrewshire, and the company plans to remain a substantial investor in the UK,” she said.
