Juan Béjar, London-based partner and co-head of Citi Infrastructure Investors, is to join Global Via, the 50-50 joint venture of Caja Madrid and construction group Fomento de Construcciones y Contratas, as chairman.
New York-based Felicity Gates, also a partner and co-head at Citi Infrastructure Investors, is to become the group’s sole head upon Béjar’s departure.
It is unknown exactly when the transition will take place. A spokesperson for Citi Infrastructure Investors confirmed that Béjar had announced his resignation, adding that it plans on working with him through his transitional period.
Béjar had been at Citi since 2007, overseeing the successful acquisition of a stake in Spanish road builder Itinere Infraestructuras. He was previously chairman of toll road operator Cintra.
News of Béjar's departure was first reported by Dow Jones Newswires.
