Andrew Sossen has been hired by KKR Financial as the firm’s new General Counsel. Sossen previously worked in the New York office of Simpson Thacher & Bartlett in the firm’s corporate practice, specializing in mergers and acquisitions and private equity.
Sossen, who joined Simpson Thacher in 2002, represented KKR Financial (KFN) in its $900 million initial public offering last year, which closed on June 29, 2005.
“Andrew’s historical involvement with KFN and KKR Financial Corp. since their respective formation in 2004 is very beneficial,” said KKR Co-Founder Saturino Fanlo.
Sossen holds a JD from the University of Pennsylvania Law School and a BA in Diplomatic History from the University of Pennsylvania.
Sossen is just the latest Simpson Thacher lawyer to be lured away by a private equity client. In June, First Reserve hired Alan Schwartz away from the law firm after he had worked with them as a client. Schwartz now serves as First Reserve’s General Counsel.
