Kummert joins Austria’s Kommunalkredit

Christian Kummert, formerly head of infrastructure at Commerzbank and Eurohypo, has recently joined Austrian bank Kommunalkredit as head of its infrastructure activities.

Austria’s Kommunalkredit bank, which bills itself on its website as “Austria’s infrastructure bank”, has hired Christian Kummert, formerly of Germany’s Commerzbank, to be head of the bank’s infrastructure activities, Kommunalkredit announced earlier this month.

Kummert will be in charge of the Austrian bank’s infrastructure business, which specialises in long-term infrastructure lending, debt restructuring and consultancy services to local authorities in Austria – its primary market – Switzerland and Central and Eastern Europe. Kommunalkredit also lends to public-private partnerships (PPPs) across several infrastructure sectors, including transportation, social accommodation and water and wastewater.

Prior to joining Kommunalkredit, Kummert was global head of infrastructure and PPPs at Commerzbank and Eurohypo. That position is now occupied by Eric Exner, who joined the German bank earlier this year after spending almost 14 years as a partner at global consultancy Accenture.
