Macquarie raises €6bn

The alternative asset manager has closed its sixth European infrastructure fund at its hard-cap.

Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets has held a final close for Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund 6 (MEIF 6) at its €6 billion hard-cap, surpassing the initial target of €5 billion. The fund will target European infrastructure assets, focusing on utilities, transportation, telecoms and renewable energy.

MEIF 6 is backed by pension funds, insurance companies and sovereign wealth funds, including the Greater Manchester Pension Fund, Fubon Life Insurance, Shin Kong Life Insurance Co., and the Teachers’ Retirement System of the State of Illinois.

Macquarie European Infrastructure Fund 5 (MEIF5) held a final close at €4 billion in September 2016.
