Operis’ Hugh Daniel dies

Hugh Daniel, founding partner and former joint chief executive of UK-based project finance consultancy Operis, passed away suddenly last Saturday.

London-based project finance consultancy Operis has announced that co-founder and former joint chief executive Hugh Daniel died suddenly on Saturday.

Daniel, together with chairman David Colver, was one of the co-founders of the original 1990 partnership that resulted in Operis, once it was incorporated in 1997. “He was instrumental in developing Operis into a market leader in the provision of financial modelling and model auditing service, particularly the development of the Operis brand in the US and Canada in recent years,” Operis said in a statement.

Co-founder David Colver, who attended Cambridge University with Daniel, paid tribute to his former colleague:

“Though Hugh had withdrawn from Operis’ day-to-day operations in late 2009, the taking from us of a so much larger than life personality at so early an age, a colleague for nearly twenty years and a friend for over thirty, is a shocking and unexpected event.”
