RBC hires co-head of infra finance group

Sekhar Angepat returns to the Canadian lender after four years away from the firm.

Toronto-headquartered RBC this week added a new co-managing director to the infrastructure finance group that forms part of its debt capital markets division.

After working with the Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce (CIBC) for the past four years, Sekhar Angepat returned to RBC Capital Markets on Monday to co-head the group alongside managing director Vickie Turnbull, who has been with the company since July 2007.

“Sekhar will be working closely with Vickie Turnbull […] with a focus on the public-private partnership business in Canada, including any underwriting and advisory services,” said a company spokesperson. “His hire is a reflection of RBC's commitment to maintaining a leadership position in infrastructure finance.”

While working with CIBC, Angepat relocated to New York from Toronto in 2013 to assist with the expansion of the bank's US-side infrastructure and debt capital markets. For his new position, he has returned to Toronto.

Angepat will report to Rob Brown and Patrick MacDonald, co-heads of debt capital markets for Canada.Â
