RFP for $3bn water project issued

Wyco Power and Water is looking for a partner to develop an infrastructure, pipeline, hydropower and water storage project. Interested parties should submit their proposals by April 6.

A request for proposals (RFP) for a multibillion dollar water project characterised as the largest in the Rocky Mountain Region has been published.

Wyco Power and Water, led by entrepreneur Aaron Million, is searching for a “concessionaire” to design, build, finance, and operate a $3 billion infrastructure, pipeline, hydropower and water storage project known as the Regional Watershed Supply Project.

Brierley Associates, the Littleton, Colorado-headquartered design firm handling the RFP, described the project as the “largest” in the region. Responses to the RFP are due on Friday, April 6, according to Brierley.

The Regional Watershed Supply Project is described as a 578-mile pipeline project along southern Wyoming and “Front Range” urban corridor of Colorado, delivering water from the Flaming Gorge Reservoir in Wyoming and Utah.

The RFP claimed the state of Colorado has estimated a potential shortfall of 630,000-acre feet of water for municipal water use by 2030.
