Star America Infrastructure Partners has hired Jeffrey Cangemi from construction company Balfour Beatty to serve as firm’s public-private partnership specialist.
Cangemi joins the firm as senior vice-president and will head its investments in P3 opportunities. He has previously worked in senior management positions for P3 development strategies at Lend Lease North America, Facchina Construction Group and most recently at Balfour Beatty.
At Balfour Beatty, Cangemi’s role was to identify new business opportunities, develop project proposals and negotiate joint venture arrangements.
“Jeffrey’s wealth of experience and industry knowledge makes him a key addition to the Star America family,” Star America’s president, Christophe Petit, said. “We view his appointment as a sign of our commitment to continuing our growth to be a leading equity partner in the pursuit, closing and management of P3s.”
Star America closed its debut infrastructure fund in April 2016 on its $300 million target. The fund’s focus is on greenfield PPP projects in North America in the transportation, social infrastructure and water sectors. Its most recent deal was in February, when it led a group of investors to financial close for the development of a mixed-use project at the University of Texas at Dallas.
