Velazquez is Commerzbank’s new head of infra

Ben Velazquez has joined Commerzbank to become head of its North American infrastructure financing business. He was previously at Standard Chartered Bank and has over 15 years of experience in the market.

Ben Velazquez, previously of Standard Chartered Bank, has been appointed to head Commerzbank’s North American infrastructure finance team.

As director and head of strategic asset finance, Velazquez will be based in New York and will be responsible for the origination, structuring and execution of bank loans for financial sponsors. He will report to Craig Meisner and, globally, to Brian McBride.

 Velazquez has over 15 years of experience in banking and capital markets. Before his tenure at Standard Chartered Bank, he was part of ANZ Investment Bank’s structured finance team, focusing on the energy sector. He has an MBA in finance with a co-major in entrepreneurship and innovation from New York University’s Leonard N. Stern School of Business.
