Australian infrastructure asset manager AMP Capital (AMP) has hired David Rees to serve as co-head of asset management within AMP’s European infrastructure team, the asset manager has announced in a statement. He will be based in the firm's London office.
Rees, who formerly held a number of senior roles at international grid operator National Grid, brings “over 25 years of experience working within infrastructure businesses including in corporate strategy, business development, corporate finance, regulation and government affairs,” AMP said in a statement. At AMP, he joins co-head of European asset management Rob Verrion.
“David’s extensive experience will complement and further strengthen our core infrastructure asset management capabilities, and add to the team’s depth of experience in regulated assets, at a time when these assets are increasingly sought by institutional investors looking for long-term stable yields with inflation linkage and the potential for capital growth,” commented AMP’s head of infrastructure for Europe, Boe Pahari.
AMP is a pioneer of infrastructure investing with more than 80 global investments under its belt since 1988, including Australia’s historical Sydney Harbour tunnel project. Its European infrastructure portfolio includes a mixture of energy, transport and social infrastructure assets such as Thames Water, Angel Trains and Compania Logistica de Hidrocarburos.
