HgCapital expands its renewables team

The European mid-market private equity and renewable energy infrastructure investor has hired two members for its renewable energy team. The division led by Tom Murley now has a total of seven professionals sourcing deals.

HgCapital has beefed up its renewable energy team by making two more hires.

Associates Luigi Pettinicchio and Luis Quirog have joined the team led by Tom Murley, which launched two years ago and is comprised of Emma Tinker, Rob deLaszlo, Jean Perarnaud and Jens Thomassen.

Pettinicchio has joined from Goldman Sachs’s investment banking division in London where he focused on European power and utilities and renewables. Quiroga formerly worked at Credit Suisse in the bank’s European energy group focusing on mergers and acquisitions. Prior to Credit Suisse he was at Boston Consulting Group.

The firm has made six investments in the sector, including two wind farms in Italy and the UK.

Hg currently has more than €2 billion under management. The firm succeeded Mercury Private Equity which was acquired by Merrill Lynch in 1997 and spun out in 2000.
