Norfund invests into Infra Impact

Norfund committed NKr87.4m to InfraImpact mid-market Infrastructure Fund I.

Norfund has committed NKr87.4 million ($8.8 million; €8.2 million) to InfraImpact mid-market Infrastructure Fund I, according to its website.

The fund, managed by Infra Impact Investment Managers, will invest in sectors such as water and sanitation, waste management, clean energy and telecommunications. Infra Impact focuses on investing in mid-market infrastructure investments across South Africa and its debut fund follows the same strategy. The vehicle has a target of 1.5 billion rand ($87 million; €81 million) and held a first close in January 2021.

Founded in 1997, Norfund is a government organisation owned and funded by the Government of Norway to invest in sustainable businesses in developing countries. Investments mainly focus on sub-Saharan Africa and a few countries in Asia and Latin America.
