The Infrastructure Investor 30 2011

Macquarie and Goldman held on to the two top spots of our second annual ranking of the 30 largest investors in the asset class. CPPIB, Ferrovial and APG Asset Management rounded off the top five.

Macquarie Group, the Sydney-based investment bank, has once again topped the Infrastructure Investor 30 – our annual ranking of the 30 largest infrastructure investors, begun in 2010 – with $31.83 billion.

Goldman Sachs ($10.72 billion) held on to number two followed by the Canada Pension Plan Investment Board ($9.97 billion), Ferrovial ($9.42 billion) and APG Asset Management ($7.43 billion).

The rankings are based on Infrastructure Investor's own proprietary methodology that seeks to measure the heft of an investor based on the amount of direct-investment capital the firm has created for the asset class in the last five years.
