Big Texas poaching for law firm

Houston-headquartered Bracewell & Giuliani has lifted a 14 member infrastructure team from across the street.

Bracewell & Giuliani has poached a project finance team from rival law firm Vinson & Elkins (V&E), according to a press release.

The Houston practice said 14 people have been lured from V&E, which is also a well-recognized law firm in Houston.

Bracewell & Giuliani anticipated a more personnel from V&E will “join” the team, which will become an official part of the firm in January. Ben Brooks, Glen Opel and Barron Wallace will lead the practice from Washington, D.C., and Texas, according to a statement.

The statement claimed the team has completed $31.1 billion in business in the last two-year period, focusing on transportation, healthcare and water service.

Bracewell & Giuliani viewed the team as a chance to “align” its project finance business with its government practice.

Former New York mayor and onetime White House hopeful Rudolph Giuliani is a “name partner” in Bracewell & Giuliani, a 470 lawyer firm. A spokeswoman for the firm was unable to provide additional comment by press time.
