CalSTRS approves $150m commitment

California State Teachers’ Retirement System has committed $150 million to GI Data Infrastructure Fund, according to its September 2020 investment committee meeting documents.

The $242.8 billion US public pension has a 3 percent target allocation to infrastructure that currently stands at 1.6 percent.

As illustrated below, CalSTRS’ recent infrastructure commitments have been mainly to North American-focused funds in the energy sector. The pension devotes 26.54 percent of its full investment portfolio to alternative assets.
