Hogan Lovells, the UK- and US-based law firm, has recruited Joseph Kim as a partner in its finance practice in Tokyo. Kim previously worked in Tokyo for US law firm Paul Hastings.
Kim – who joins the Infrastructure, Energy, Resources and Projects (IERP) team – is a project finance lawyer who focuses on power, upstream and midstream natural resources and renewable energy including liquefied natural gas (LNG).
Kim has worked with clients including Standard Chartered Bank, Marubeni, K-Exim and K-Sure and will aim to strengthen Hogan Lovells’ Japan and Korea outbound investment and financing offering as well as promoting the firm’s global capabilities for projects involving Japanese and Korean cross-border investment.
Hogan Lovells has made four hires into its Asia finance practice this year and seven overall in Asia.
“Joe’s expertise is highly sought after in the Asia market,” said Sharon Lewis, global head of Hogan Lovells’ finance practice, in a statement. “Japanese and Korea based financing is playing an increasingly important role in global infrastructure transactions and his presence on the ground in Tokyo will be a great asset in furthering the reach of our IERP practice globally.”
