MJ Hudson ex-secondaries head resurfaces at Dentons

Ted Craig is now the third partner comprising Dentons' alternative funds practice, which the law firm aims to double in size over the next few years.

MJ Hudson’s former private funds and secondaries head Ted Craig is set to join law firm Dentons, less than a week after sister publication Secondaries Investor reported he had left the asset management consultancy.

The London-based lawyer will join as a partner in Dentons’ London office, according to a statement. He will advise fund sponsors and investors on private fund formation, buyers and sellers on secondaries transactions and sponsors on fund restructurings, co-investments and spin-outs.

Dentons has three partners in its alternative funds practice, all of whom have secondaries experience, a spokeswoman for the firm said. It is aiming to double this number over the next few years. “Ted is a key part of this growth,” she added.

Craig spent five-and-a-half years at MJ Hudson, having previously worked in the international funds group of King & Wood Mallesons and as in-house counsel at Capital Dynamics. He was listed in sister publication pfm‘s 30 under 40 list of impressive legal professionals in 2017.

His clients at MJ Hudson included Montana Capital Partners, Capital Dynamics, Altamar Capital Partners, StepStone, Multiplicity Partners, Newbury Partners and North Sea Capital, as well as single- and multi-family offices.

Partner Saloni Joshi, who has more than 18 years’ experience advising on private investment funds and private equity-related transactions, is now responsible for MJ Hudson’s secondaries practice.
