NYSCRF approves $500m in commitments

The US public pension has backed two North American infrastructure funds.

New York State Common Retirement Fund has agreed to commit $250 million each to Stonepeak Global Renewables Fund and Stonepeak Infrastructure Fund IV, according to pension’s June 2020 meeting minutes.

The fourth Stonepeak flagship fund is a North American-focused fund, primarily investing in renewable and gas-fired power generation, utilities, midstream energy, communications, water and transportation. Simultaneously, the global renewables fund is a OECD-focused fund, primarily investing in wind and solar power generation.

As illustrated below, the pension’s recent commitments are to vehicles focused on the energy, renewables, transport and telecommunication sectors within Europe and North America.
