New infra head for SocGen

Internal hire Denis Stas de Richelle moves from export finance to become the new global head of infrastructure and asset-based finance.

After more than 11 years in export finance with Societe Generale, Denis Stas de Richelle has taken on a new role in the French bank’s corporate and investment banking division as global head of infrastructure & asset-based finance.

A Societe Generale veteran, who first joined the Brussels branch in 1990, Stas de Richelle was deputy global head of export finance from September 2001 to October 2007; and then global head of export finance from November 2007 until taking up his new post earlier this month.

A statement from Societe Generale said he would “continue to build on the strength of the bank’s global infrastructure business and asset-based financings as well as further developing capital market solutions such as project bonds”.

Stas de Richelle has been replaced as global head of export finance by Frederic Surdon, who had been chief operating officer of the global finance division since 2008.

Both Stas de Richelle and Surdon will report to Matthew Vickerstaff, global head of the structured finance department in the global finance division. Vickerstaff was himself global head of infrastructure and asset-based finance before being appointed to head up the newly created structured finance department in April last year as part of a wider reorganisation of the bank’s activities.
