Accel-KKR appoints managing director

Robert Palumbo will join the technology specialist after having served as the head of Thomas Weisel Partners’ West Coast enterprise software practice.

Menlo Park, California-based Accel-KKR has appointed Robert Palumbo as managing director.

Palumbo joins Accel-KKR managing directors Thomas Barnds and Ben Bisconti in overseeing the firm’s investment activities, originating and structuring deals.

Prior to Accel-KKR, Palumbo led Thomas Weisel Partners’ West Coast enterprise software practice. Previously, he had directed Deutsche Bank’s technology investment practice in the Southeast, and later led the firm’s West Coast software investment banking effort.

Accel-KKR is a technology-focused private equity firm founded by the senior partners venture capital firm Accel Partners and private equity firm Kohlberg Kravis Roberts.  In April, the firm spent $57.5 million on a management buyout of 3D graphics provider Alias.
