The private investment arm of the World Bank will invest up to $25 million in Asia Environmental Partners, a $250 million private equity fund focused on making investments in renewable energy and environmental services companies in Asia.
Asia Environmental Partners will make 10 to 12 investments, each ranging from $20 million to $50 million in size. The fund will invest pan-regionally, but has a primary focus on opportunities in India and China.
The fund will target investments in energy efficiency, clean energy distribution infrastructure, renewable energy projects, solid waste management, waste water treatment, water quality treatment infrastructure and pollution control.
Based in Hong Kong, Olympus Capital closed Olympus Capital Asia III on $750 million in June last year. That fund invests in mid-market private equity and special situations in Asia. The firm has invested approximately $1.3 billion in about 30 Asian companies since its inception in 1997 and has additional offices in Shanghai, New Delhi, Seoul, New York and Tokyo.
