Deadline for P3 Canada Fund announced

Applicants have until June 4 to be eligible for the latest round of financing.

PPP Canada is again opening up its wallet and offering to fund public-private infrastructure.

PPP Canada, a ‘Crown corporation’ or enterprise created by the federal state, announced its P3 Canada Fund is, for the fifth time in its three-year existence, open to receiving project applications for funding. ‘Round five’ funding for the P3 Canada Fund will centre on transportation infrastructure, water and wastewater management, solid waste disposal and ‘brownfield’ redevelopment.

A public-private partnership (PPP or P3) with a long-term design, build, finance, operate, and maintain (DBFOM) mandate will be given “priority,” PPP Canada said.

The fund to date has financed 15 P3s in Canada, totalling $715 million. The federal government allocated C$1.2 billion ($1.17 billion; €894 million) over a five-year period that began in 2009.

The country recently decided to renew the fund by an additional C$1.25 billion beginning in 2014.

PPP Canada said the deadline to submit an application for the P3 Canada Fund is June 14.
