First Avenue expands North American team

The London-based private placement agent has added Patricia Chalian, formerly of Forbes Private Capital Group, to its New York office.

Patricia Chalian has joined First Avenue's New York office as principal in charge of project management in North America.

Chalian brings to the London-headquartered private placement agent and investment advisory firm more than 15 years of experience in alternative assets and capital markets, most recently as a senior managing director at Forbes Private Capital Group. She was previously a director in the private fund group at Guggenheim Securities. 

She has also served as a member of the marketing and investor relations team at Apollo Management and a vice president in the alternative investments group at JPMorgan.

“The hire of Patricia Chalian represents the critical importance of the US market and the tremendous growth of our US franchise in recent years,” First Avenue chief executive and managing partner Paul Buckley told Infrastructure Investor in an e-mail.

“The firm has become a leading global alternative asset fundraising platform and is completing a number of highly successful fundraisings, most notably in the areas of private credit, private equity, real assets and real estate,” Chalian said in a statement. “I hope to add to First Avenue's continued growth, using my experience to successfully diligence managers and advise them on their fundraising strategies.”

Founded in 2006, First Avenue focuses on raising capital for alternative asset managers across private credit, private equity, real assets and real estate strategies in developed and emerging markets. The company counts 49 professionals across offices located in London, New York, San Francisco and Sydney.
