Macquarie raises €2.5bn

The Sydney-based asset manager has raised €1bn more than its initial target.

Macquarie Infrastructure and Real Assets has closed the Super Core Infrastructure Fund, the first in a new series of fundraisings, on €2.5 billion.

The fund targets to provide investors access primarily to core regulated assets in Europe.

About 40 investors committed to the fund, half of which were investors in previous Macquarie funds. Investors include the South Carolina Retirement System, Sweden’s Folksam Group and Taiwan Life.

The fundraising is set to be the first in a series of three, with each expected to be of around an equal size.
