Washington powerbroker to help Nossaman infra practice

Lawyer Linda Morgan, who headed the Surface Transportation Board, was named partner and will help the law firm expand its infrastructure offering.

Bona fide Capitol Hill policymaker Linda Morgan has joined Nossaman as a partner in its infrastructure practice, the law firm said.

Long-time transportation regulation and policy expert Morgan characterized Nossaman as an innovator in infrastructure. She will be based in Washington, D.C.

As an attorney, Morgan chaired the Interstate Commerce Commission (ICC) as well as its successor committee, the Surface Transportation Board (STB), a US Department of Transportation (US DOT) entity.

President Clinton appointed Morgan to head the ICC in 1995. She transitioned the ICC into its current incarnation as the STB, acting as chairwoman until 2002.

Morgan also served as general counsel for the US Senate Committee on Commerce, Science and Transportation.

Nossaman noted Morgan was the second partner named to its infrastructure practice in 2011. Railroad and public transit lawyer Kevin Sheys joined the firm in January.
