AMP/Brookfield add to global listed infra team

AMP Capital Investors and Brookfield Investment Management recently hired Charles Hamieh, formerly of fund manager Hastings, to join their jointly owned global listed infrastructure team.

Charles Hamieh, a former director of infrastructure securities at fund manager Hastings, has joined the global infrastructure and real estate platform jointly owned by AMP Capital Investors and Brookfield Investment Management.

Hamieh started work earlier this month in the new role of senior analyst of global infrastructure securities and will focus on Australian and Asian infrastructure companies. He will be based in Sydney. His appointment follows AMP Capital’s decision to launch a new fund later this year, the AMP Capital Global Infrastructure Securities Fund, AMP Capital said in a statement.

Prior to joining the jointly owned listed infrastructure team, Hamieh was the director of infrastructure securities at Australian fund manager Hastings. Before that, he had been fund manager of the Global Infrastructure Fund at Australian fund manager Challenger. He brings 12 years of experience in infrastructure, including six years in listed infrastructure and utility securities with AMP Capital.

Hamieh will report to Craig Noble, the head of the listed infrastructure team, based in Chicago. AMP Capital Investors and Brookfield Investment Management signed an agreement in 2002 that created a $6 billion global listed real estate and infrastructure group known as AMP Capital Brookfield. The partnership created one of the world’s largest teams of dedicated investment professionals in the infrastructure and real estate sectors.
