As it seeks to raise a $4 billion fund for infrastructure, New York investment giant Kohlberg Kravis Roberts will need no reminding that these are not the easiest of times on the fundraising trail. A headline in India’s Business Standard offers a potential solution: “KKR most discussed team on social sites: Nielsen”.
Yes, indeed. Nielsen, the company famous for conducting audience measurements of all sorts, determined that KKR was getting more tweets, blog posts and references on networking sites like Orkut than any other “team”.
So here’s an idea surely worth pursuing: the infrastructure team at KKR should immediately jet off on a capital-raising trip to India – hungry as it is for both infrastructure and KKR.
But then it dawned on us that the Business Standard was in fact referring to the Kolkata Knight Riders Indian Premier League cricket franchise (kkr.in) – not the legendary alternative investment firm (kkr.com).
Hopes that our February profile of KKR’s infrastructure team had launched the firm into the farthest reaches of social networking fame have been well and truly hit for six.
