In our November 2014 issue, we reported on the launch of a competition by the UK’s Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), which sought to attract striking images of the nation’s infrastructure in order to “bring the importance of the country’s major infrastructure projects to life”.

The results are now in, and the winning image – seeing off around 300 rivals – is “Double Travel” (shown here) by Rita Testa. The image of trains passing each other on railway tracks was taken from the Shard building in London.

“The shortlisted images, and in particular the winning photograph, innovatively demonstrate the relationship we have with infrastructure while creating an impressive and high quality shot,” said Louise Brooke Smith, RICS president and a member of the judging panel, in a statement.
